Preparing Students for Graduation

Pearson Online Academy provides in-depth support to ensure that students understand graduation requirements and are well prepared for life beyond high school.

To ensure that each graduating class of seniors is well prepared for the transition out of virtual high school, Pearson Online Academy provides:

  • Access to a full-time certified school counselor
  • Assistance creating a four-year academic plan
  • College and career planning help, including:
    • Guidance in finding appropriate college or career opportunities
    • LiveLesson® online workshops that provide information about the college application process, financial aid, and scholarships
    • Free access to online test preparation courses for college admissions tests
    • Official transcripts
    • Additional extracurricular activities such as Debate Club, Career Club, and College Planning Club

High School Graduation Requirements

Students must successfully earn a minimum of 21 credits to graduate based on their specific graduation plan. The course credits required to graduate include:

Standard

  • Language Arts (English): 4 credits
  • Math (Any 3): 3 credits
  • Science (Any 3): 3 credits
  • Social Studies (U..S History): 1 credit
  • Social Studies (Any other Social Studies): 1 credit
  • Electives (Any Electives offered for credit): 9 credits

Total: 21 credits

Recommended-College Bound

  • Language Arts (English I, II, III, IV - regular, honors, or Advanced Placement®*): 4 credits
  • Math (Algebra 1 and above): 4 credits
  • Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Science elective): 4 credits
  • Social Studies (U.S. History, World History, American Government .5/Economics .5, Social Studies elective): 4 credits
  • World Language (2 years in the same language): 2 credits
  • Electives (Any other electives offered for credit): 3 credits

Total: 21 credits
