Why I Became a Teacher

I became a teacher to inspire future generations and to help each student realize the incredible potential they have in this world. Teaching here allows me to provide more specialized attention to each of my students and families, which I was not able to do in brick-and-mortar schools.

It’s so rewarding to see how much my students grow throughout the year, both on an academic and personal level. It’s a joy working with all the students here, but it’s very special when a Learning Coach reaches out to me to express their gratitude for our school and how it has changed their child’s learning path for the better.

The Online School Experience at Pearson Online Academy

Student engagement is important, so I foster it by connecting our curriculum to real-life applications and relating lessons to student interest. Students are constantly interacting with one another through peer-led discussions, breakout session activities, and enrichment events.

My students and I love engaging in project-based learning activities across all subjects. In science, my students have created rover prototypes to help further the exploration on Mars. In math, they created their own fruit punch recipes to showcase their knowledge of measurement conversions. This encourages students to think about how their learning directly relates to their present life.

There is nothing more rewarding than knowing a student has a newfound passion for learning that you or your school have ignited.

My Personal Interests

When I’m not teaching, I love trying new things. Some current explorations of mine include yoga and watercolor painting. I enjoy leading a healthy and active lifestyle, so when I am not teaching, I am likely cycling on my Peloton or playing a round of golf.
